Abstract

Previous understandings of creativity have focused on the individual, and digital technologies as static tools. Since then, our understanding of creativity has developed through a social psychology understanding to link creative behaviors to the environment. Digital technologies have also developed expodentially with the introduction of neural networks, deep learning, and artificial intelligence. By addressing the environment to support creative behaviors through a social psychology perspective while simultaneously breaking away from a traditional Instrumental Theory of Technology to view digital technologies as having agency, arguments can be made for critically reviewing our relationships with technology to better support creative behaviors though the environment.
