Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the value of directed reading for personal-social growth on the ninth grade level through scientific measurements. A study was made of similar research findings relevant to the problem. An experiment was conducted using two ninth grade groups within each of which there existed an experimental group and a control group. Results of the experiment were obtained by scientific measurements.
