Typewriting--Study and teaching

Abstract

Every good teacher looks for opportunities to improve instruction. A teacher welcomes methods, devices and techniques which will enhance the t aching-learning situation. This paper is a contribution in the area of advanced typewriting. The purposes of the teaching devices mentioned in this study that follow are to suggest to the teachers some procedures which are interesting and have direct instructional value, and to evaluate the devices mentioned. Various devices may be used to: 1. Build speed and accuracy 2. Improve production standards in all phases 3. Improve statistical typewriting 4. Improve skill in proofreading These suggestions may be helpful to the teacher who has been using the some procedure again and again and who is looking for something new. Of course, no one device should be worked to death, as almost any procedure, no matter how interesting at first, becomes monotonous if it is repeated too often. The writer of this paper has tried to assemble some of these devices into one unit of work which should be of help to teachers of second-year typewriting.
