Selenium dioxide; Absorption spectra
Abstract
The absorption spectra of gaseous selenium dioxide Se⁸⁰O₂¹⁶ and Se⁸⁰O₂¹⁸ are studied. These spectra range in absorption system B from 32100 cm⁻¹ to 36400 cm⁻¹. Band heads are listed for both Se⁸⁰O₂¹⁶ and Se⁸⁰O₂¹⁸. The corresponding isotope shift versus wave number is plotted. The origin is estimated to be around 32250 cm⁻¹. This value is more reliable than those in the earlier reports due to the use of the isotopes. Two vibrational modes in the ultraviolet region are observed, different from previous results, given by V′₁ and V′₂ at approximate 660 cm⁻¹ and 255 cm⁻¹.
