Abstract
This Capstone recital is the culmination of five semesters of work with the berimbau. My work has included compositions, publishing of scores, and research about its traditions in and associations with Capoeira Angola in Brazil. The collection of twelve berimbau works now known as MeiaMeia is comprised of six of my own compositions for berimbau (solo, duo, trio, quartet, quintet, sextet). This Capstone recital was the premiere of all twelve pieces being performed in one program. This song cycle, now known as MeiaMeia, is being recorded this summer and will be released as an album on innova Recordings in late 2015.
