Abstract
This study sought to understand how Black students perform and their learning experience on predominately white campus. This study reviewed several theories that apply to Black’s students’ identity, discrimination, and experience . This study also addressed topics such as motivation for Black students, their academic performance, and mental health and racism. The literature showed that Black students continue to face racism and discrimination in higher education institution. Implications were suggested on how to higher education institutions could improve the in class and out of class experience for Black students.
