Abstract
CAIDEN is a mobile robotic platform that can be equipped with a number of various sensors for specified use. A communication system was developed to convey commands and data to the robot. XBees were used to obtain wireless communication between the user and the robot. The communication system consisted of both intra- and interrobotic communication. Within the robot, there are a variety of sensors and two micro-controllers that need to work together to make the robot function appropriately. Outside of the robot, there is a GUI that the operator uses to monitor and control CAIDEN's movement. This system was rigorously tested to ensure that it worked accordingly.
