Abstract
The work submitted is a transcription for band of the Variations, Chaconne, and Finale by Norman Dello Joio, published by Carl Fischer, Inc. Dello Joio's style lends itself very well to a transcription for the concert band* There is considerable use of winds, and the sonorities which the composer utilizes sound well in the wind medium. The general style of this composition is not far removed from the composer's original works for band: Variants on a Medieval Tune and From Every Horizon. In rescoring the work many of the original ensemble sounds have been retained in order to present as closely as possible the characteristic sounds have composer wished to convey.
