Educational evaluation--Illinois--Barrington; Teachers--Rating of--Illinois--Barrington

Abstract

In 1993 the Barrington Unit School District embarked on a journey to move away from a traditional method of teacher evaluation and supervision to a differentiated method that will empower teachers to make themselves better professionals. The author wanted to examine the history of evaluation, the current method of evaluation in Barrington, and to present the new method that has been developed by a committee of teachers and administrators. It is of interest to examine the process by which the committee would replace one evaluation tool with another. The key points of research are presented with a summary following.
