Abstract

The continued adoption and escalation of commercial surface extraction techniques threatens to contaminate adjacent river networks across the coal mining landscape. We look to simulate the movement of this pollution across connected graph structures using stochastic block model methodologies, fueled from work and theory derived from exponential random graph models. We begin our study by applying our virtual experiment to the motivating material, later offering an exhaustive walk through of the simulation itself. Afterwards, we present our findings and their implications to water pollution analysis, emphasizing a need for this research and expanding on some inferential statistics left for later discussion.
