Abstract
Research on death in the United States primarily focuses on the experience of citizens in the country with legal documentation. As a result, there exists a gap in knowledge on the experiences of undocumented people dealing with death in the country. This thesis examines how undocumented Latinx people navigate the financial and emotional burdens of death. Specifically, the methods that are utilized by this population to overcome challenges despite their unique circumstances. The results of this thesis suggest that social networks play a significant role in helping undocumented participants move forward with burial processes and overcoming grief. Social Networks provided participants with financial aid and emotional support which allowed the burdens of death to be eased significantly.
