Abstract
A study of rates for Level 1 (LI) and Level 2 (L2) electromagnetic (EM) and hadronic (HAD) triggers for the upgraded D0 detector is presented. These rates are measured for three different Tevatron running conditions: (a) number of bunches = 6, crossing time= 3.5[mu]sec; (b) number of bunches=36, crossing time = 396 ns; (c) number of bunches=108, crossing time = 132 ns. The rates axe estimated as a function of luminosity, probability of more than one interaction in a crossing and as a function of the number of interactions in a crossing. The estimated trigger rates are compared with the Run I trigger rates. A trigger menu has been designed and the rates for the triggers in the menu are estimated. Studies were also performed including the silicon tracker in the trigger decision (STT), which resulted in a background rate reduction.
