Abstract
Five species of New World Chromis (Osteichthys: Pomacentridae) were examined: Chromis n. sp., C. insolata (Cuvier), C. cyanea (Poey), C. atrilobata Gill, and C. multillneata (Guichenot). Eighteen additional species, representing thirteen genera within the Family Pomacentridae, were studied for comparative purposes. The complete osteologies of the five species of Chromis are described and figured. The subgenus Furcaria was cladistically determined by means of a monothetic subset method of analysis. Dendograms were constructed to present the proposed relationships.
