Abstract

The magnetic properties of a sintered sample of Ni₅₅-Fe₄₅ alloy were investigated between 82 and 273°K. using a vibrating sample magnetometer. The alloy is ferromagnetic with a spontaneous magnetization of 149.8 ± 0.7 e.m.u./gm. . Saturation occurs around 15,000 gauss and the saturation magnetism is 156.8 ± 1.7 e.m.u/gm. . The temperature dependence of the spontaneous and saturation magnetization is T² in the range tested. It is determined that there are 1.539 Bohr magnetons per atom which is in good agreement with the previous work. Due to some irregularities in the data, it is suggested that more investigations be made on the sample to determine the source of these irregularities.
