Abstract

The syntheses of trans-difluorobis(1,2-propanediamine)- chromium(III) chloride, trans-difluorobis-(1,2-propanediamine)chromium(III) iodide, and trans-fluoroaquobis- (1,2-propanedlamine)chromium(III) perchlorate are described. The synthesis involving the thermal exchange of a chloride or bromide ion for water in the trans-fluoroaquobis- (1,2-propanediamine)chromium(III) cation is described. Simple methods for syntheses of trans-dichlorobis(1,2- propanediamine )chromium( III) perchlorate and trans- dlbromobis(1,2-propanediamine)chromium(III) bromide are shown. Elemental analyses, resistance measurements, infrared spectra, and ultraviolet-visible spectra were used to characterize the structure of these compounds.
