Abstract

This thesis studies an approach for monitoring a manufacturing process whose quality characteristic has a linear trend that is caused by tool wear. The methodology is implemented in R and simulations are performed in R to empirically investigate the properties of the method. The simulations indicate that using residuals calculated from least squares regression analysis has the potential to be used to create a location control chart.
