Photons; Silicon--Oxidation
Abstract
The catalytic oxidation of Silicon has been widely studied by conventional techniques. In order to supplement existing knowledge, this work presents photon-stimulated desorption spectra for the oxidation of Silicon using Sodium and Cesium as catalysts. The detection of 0⁺ from oxidized Si sites is reported for the first time. The bonding site selectivity of these spectra is exploited to resolve the controversy on the promotional effect being local or non-local. Coverage dependence studies for the cesiated Si(100) surface are also presented, again using photon-stimulated desorption.
