Abstract
Digital image processing is conducted on an IBM PC compatible without specialized image processors. With a Super-VGA video adapter, the pseudo-gray scale design is capable of displaying a standard image (512 x 480) with the resolution of 256 gray levels. The personal computer’s CPU and its video display device is capable of performing all the digital image processing tasks with a speed comparable to that of the specialized image processor. The conventional image processing system has therefore been tremendously simplified, and the new system offers an economical solution to people who are working in the image processing field.
