Abstract
In an exploration of increasing discourse abilities in elementary school children, samples of two boys' conversation with a familiar adult were examined. The samples were taken at the school levels of kindergarten, second grade, and fifth grade. Results showed the following developmental trends: an increase in type-token ratio and the use of advanced conjunctions and a decrease in overall errors.
