Abstract

Using Ouchterlony agar-diffusion tests, four stocks, ORI, w, wa, wh, of Drosophila melanogaster with ORI inbred co-isogenic background were studied to identify their antigenic relationships. The consistency and repeatability of the precipitation patterns were dependent upon an agar pH value close to 8, and incubation time near 24 hours. The inward or outward displaced precipitation line, designated w-4, of wa suggests quantitative or qualitative antigenic difference between wa and the other three stocks. These results are in agreement with the work of Green (1959), and confirm portions of Fuscaldo's (1965) work.
