Management information systems
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to describe the financial aspects of implementing a Management Information System. The study attempts to outline the financial considerations that must be recognized and evaluated by management before determining the feasibility of the system. The financial aspects described in this study are: the investment, the determination of the cost elements, the creation of the feasibility report, and the incorporation of the system in the area of the greatest profit potential. Questionnaires provided the data needed to determine the nature of the investment in a Management Information System. Interviews w ere conducted with business firms to determine what constitutes the cost elements in implementing a Management Information System. In the future the investment required to implement a Management Information System will become larger. The executive officers will become more aware of the need to evaluate the investment potential.
