Abstract

In this thesis, the fatigue life of a specially shaped aluminum beam subjected to random vibrations is analyzed. Analytical techniques including the finite element method and experimental techniques are used in the analysis of this problem. The beam considered here has notches along its width. Fatigue life was estimated based on various theories and was compared with experimental observations.
