Abstract

In this thesis, the fatigue life of a corrugated tube subjected to random vibrations is analyzed. Analytical techniques including finite element method and experimental techniques are used in the analysis of this problem. The tube considered here has helical convolutions at three sections along its length and the tube is bent as shown in the figure in the Appendix. The critical section, i.e. the section which is going to fail first, is found to be the first convolution from the top, and the analysis was done for that critical section of the tube.
