Iron-aluminum alloys; Mössbauer spectroscopy

Abstract

Mossbauer spectrometry was used to estimate the relative amounts of different states in Al-Fe alloys. The sample consisted of 5% by weight of iron and had been cooled from the liquid state at a very quick rate. The Mossbauer data suggest the presence of a new, unstable cubic state of iron in aluminum.
