Abstract

This thesis deals with the verification of a formulation where natural frequencies of a composite system made up of two systems connected by a third system are estimated. The transfer functions at the points where the individual systems are connected, properties of the system connecting the two systems and mass matrix of the individual systems are assumed to be known. The experimental setup comprises aluminum blocks representing lumped masses coupled together by springs. Natural frequencies obtained in various ways are then compared.
