Abstract

During the author's tour of duty with the United States Army, he was engaged in a rodent control program at Fort Lewis, Washington. Although not a part of the objective of that program, it was noted that rodents were frequently infested with ectoparasites. At Northern Illinois State College, an opportunity was afforded to do further work on a problem of this nature. It was this that motivated the current iinvestigation. The purpose of this study is to determine the relative incidence of the various ectoparasites which infest the rodents of the fields and woodlands. A further objective of this survey is to establish a technique of conducting a study of this type which is both feasible and accurate.
