Abstract

Purpose: The study was conducted in order to identify the differences betwsen tbs adolescent personal problems of boarding and day students at Marmion Military Academy, located In Aurora, Illinois. Procedure: The Mooney Problem Check-List was given to five hundred and thirty nine cadets that comprise the sophomore, junior, and senior classes at both the day and the boarding campuses of Marmion Military Academy. The results are tabulated by class ability group, problem area, number of responses, and the rank order of concern reported by each ability group. Findings: An analysis of the date obtained and tabulated in the study indicated that boarding students consistently reported a higher number of response a than did the day students. The day students usually concurred in their choice of a major area of concern while those reported by the boarding students did not follow any definite trend or pattern. It is the opinion of the author that this lack of agreement among classes, or even among ability groups within classes indicates the presence of some unknown or unidentified variable that requires further investigation.
