Abstract

For my honors capstone project, I performed a variety show. Through the performance, I wanted to showcase who I am as a performer and as a person. For many years, I have been passionate about dancing, singing, writing poetry, and playing music. I also really enjoy joking around and having fun. So, instead of trying to decide on just one or a few of these skills to showcase, I combined all of these into a variety show with 26 different acts (one for each letter of the alphabet). This project challenged my creativity in that I had to come up with 26 different things to do that included a wide variety of skills and emotional range. I also needed to pace the show so that I didn’t get too tired too quickly. The document included is the program for my show, which lists each of the acts that I performed except for three of them, which required no program credits. It also includes some images that I felt represented the overall vibe of the show really well. One of them depicts me making a funny face during one of my high school orchestra concerts, and the other is of me performing in one of my high school musicals (I also performed one of the songs from that musical in my show). The show took place at the NIU Music Building in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall on Saturday, April 19th at 11:30 AM.
