Abstract

One purpose of this study has been to investigate the different methods available in finding the sum of a finite number of terms of the harmonic series n/Σ/[j=1] denoted by H[sub n]. Two methods were found to sum the series H[sub n]. One method required the use of Finite Calculus techniques. The formula developed was H[sub n] = Y(n+1) + y. The other method consists of evaluating the sum as a continued fraction and finding the successive convergents...
