Abstract

Statement of the Problem: It was the purpose of this study to develop a first year course outline for the general shop program of the industrial arts department at Kaneland Junior-Senior High School. The major factors considered were: 1. What is the background, philosophy, and objectives of Kaneland Junior-Senior High School? 2. What is the philosophy of industrial arts at Kaneland Junior-High School? 3. What objectives of industrial arts are to be emphasized at Kaneland Junior-High School to meet the needs of the students? 4. What industrial arts curriculum should be developed in consideration of the physical facilities available and the objectives emphasized? 5. What areas should be offered the first year to: a. Best benefit the students who will only take one year of industrial arts? b. Prepare the students for more advanced industrial arts courses?
