Abstract

INTRODUCTION For many years the design of industrial arts projects has been prioritized occasionally by people outside as well as inside the Industrial arts field. There have been many complaints registered about the design quality of projects found in some of the industrial arts publications. Because of these criticisms, a rating of design elements of the projects found in two industrial arts publications was made by art Judges and industrial arts teachers. STATEMENT OP THE PROBLEM The purpose of this study was twofold— first, to ascertain the rated general appearance quality of project design in two industrial arts magazines in terms of a prepared rating scale, and second, to rate each project design in terms of the following elements of design: a)material b)form c)balance d)texture and e)relationship of parts.
