Great Britain--Economic conditions--1945-1993

Abstract

Between the years 1939 and 1946 Britain was engaged in war. As a result of this war a great deal of her capital assets, both visible and Invisible, were destroyed or damaged. Throughout the period of war Britain was spending more then 50 percent of her national income for war material. To obtain payment for needed supplies she had to begin a crippling disinvestment program at home and abroad.
