Abstract

An appraisal of the historical backgrounds and current features of Norway's system of public education with some comparative references to our own public educational system in the United States. The purpose of this study was to provide an appraisal of the public educational system of Norway with a demonstration of scholarly research which is based upon facts and carefully reasoned opinions. The method used was to work largely with secondary sources, and to a limited extent, with primary sources concentrating on materials available at Swen Parson Library and casual impressions on Norwegian education which one can get from contacts in a Norwegian community in the United States or Norway.
