Abstract

"Self portraiture does not involve ego, vanity, or narcissism. Self portraiture is an open confrontation with the discomforting feeling of being perceived by others through projecting and encountering one’s own form in strange and delicate parallel realities."

This work confronts issues in the photographic art of self-portraiture through experimentation and metaphysical theories, the issue of an artist dealing with past versions of the self, still life used as metaphor, and the problems and considerations for an artist choosing to make their own tools.
